The Maker
Leather has been part of Fernando Echeverria’s family since 1930. Born from a tradition of saddlers and leather artisans in Ecuador, his practice was later rediscovered and developed in Prague at UMPRUM under Liběna Rochová.
Today from The Czech Republic, his work brings together South American craft heritage and the geometric language of Central European design, from Czech Cubism to the Wiener Werkstätte.
Every piece has a person behind it. Someone who designed it, made it, and cared about every detail.
The Atelier
My atelier is in SmetanaQ, a historic building in the heart of Prague, a few steps from the National Theatre.
Part workshop, part creative laboratory, it is where ideas take shape through craftsmanship, curiosity, and time.
You can walk in during opening hours and discover it in person.
The Leather
I work only with vegetable tanned leather, processed with natural tannins from chestnut, mimosa and quebracho bark. rather than chromium. Most of it is Cuoio di Toscana, tanned slowly in traditional pits in Tuscany.
The rest comes from suppliers in Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic that I have worked with for years, and it is always top grain.
Every piece is made entirely by my own hands, from the first sketch to the final detail.

We meet in my atelier, choose the leather and details together, and I take your measurements. From there, your pair takes shape step by step, made specifically for you.
