Workshops & Leather Craft Experiences
Shoemaking Experience
Step into the world of handcrafted shoemaking and design your own pair of shoes from
concept to completion.
This workshop is designed for those who want to learn the art of traditional
shoemaking through both craftsmanship and design. Guided by Fernando Echeverria—a product designer specializing in leather and a handcrafted shoemaker with more than 13 years of experience—you will discover not only how shoes are made, but also how they are conceived as functional and expressive objects.
Whether you already have a design in mind or are starting from scratch, you will be guided through every stage of the creative process to create a pair of shoes that is uniquely yours and made entirely by your own hands.
Suitable for beginners and intermediate makers, the workshop welcomes both women and men. No previous experience is required—only curiosity, patience, and a desire to learn. All materials, tools, and equipment are included.
Please note that this workshop focuses on handcrafted shoes and boots. It does not cover high-heel shoemaking, which requires different techniques and
specialized construction methods.
What You Will Learn
Throughout this intensive workshop you will gain a solid foundation in handcrafted shoemaking, including:
- Introduction to shoemaking principles and footwear design
- Basic pattern making and shoe
construction - Leather selection and cutting techniques
- Professional shoemaking tools and materials
- Machine stitching and upper construction
- Traditional hand stitching of
the upper to the sole - Leather heel making and finishing
- Shoe assembly through more than
50 individual construction steps - Leather finishing and polishing techniques
