This workshop is designed for people who want to explore their creativity and create a unique pair of shoes by hand using traditional shoemaking techniques.
During the workshop, we will work together to design the shoes you envision, or if you are unsure, I will guide you through creating a new design.
This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate users. No previous experience is required, but patience and creativity are.
The price includes all materials, as well as the use of tools and equipment.
Throughout the workshop, you will learn essential skills such as:
- Basic knowledge of leather and footwear theory.
- Creating basic shoe patterns.
- Leather cutting techniques.
- Using basic shoemaking tools.
- Hand and machine stitching.
- Hand coloring and decorating leather.
- Making genuine leather soles and heels
At the end of the course, you will not only have a new pair of handmade leather shoes, but also a memorable experience working with a master of design and craftsmanship.
The workshop takes place in my studio in the center of Prague, near the National Theater, in the SmetanaQ building, a space shared by 15 local designers, each with their own workshop. This setting offers the opportunity to meet other designers working in fashion, jewelry, and more. The studio boasts a beautiful setting, overlooking the Vltava River, Petrin Tower, and Prague Castle.
The location is easily accessible by metro and tram, making it perfect for those wishing to experience the charm of old Prague.
The course requires a minimum of 35 hours, spread over 5 days (7 hours per day).
I recommend bringing work clothes or an apron, as paint, glue, or wax splashes may occur. Participants with long hair should also tie it up for safety.
If you have experience working with leather, you may want to bring your favorite tools or materials.
During the workshop you will have a lunch break, with several restaurants nearby. We also have a small kitchen with a microwave for your convenience.
Price:
35-hour course: 24,000 CZK (960 EUR)
For more complex shoe designs that require additional time, a fee of 4800 CZK (190 EUR) per additional day (7 hours) will apply.
A 50% deposit is required two weeks before the course, and the remainder can be paid in cash or by card on-site.
